FASIG is pleased to host a webinar presented by Dr. Patricia van der Burgt, a desk officer and forensic archaeologist for the State Archaeological Heritage Office in Saxony, Germany. The webinar will discuss Dr. van der Burgt’s workshops, results, and the role of a forensic archaeologist in Germany.

 

 

Description

The Forensic archaeology SIG is pleased to host a webinar presented by Dr. Patricia van der Burgt, a desk officer and forensic archaeologist for the State Archaeological Heritage Office in Saxony, Germany. Dr. van der Burgt has conducted extensive forensic archaeology workshops for Saxon Police homicide divisions. Her workshops have examined the excavation, recording, and analyses of human remains and trace evidence. The workshops also explore the admissibility of trace evidence in courtroom proceedings.


The webinar is open to all members and non-members of FASIG. The webinar will discuss Dr. van der Burgt’s workshops, results, and the role of a forensic archaeologist in Germany.

  • Dr. Patricia van der Burgt
    Dr. Patricia van der Burgt received an M.A. in North-Western European Pre- and Protohistory from the University of Leiden in the Netherlands in 1993. She worked as a (field) archaeologist, exhibition planning manager and GIS/database manager, predominantly for the State Archaeological Heritage Office in Saxony, where she lives since 1993. She received her Ph.D. title in 2007 with a thesis on archaeological predictive modelling for the motorway A17 in Saxony, and in 2017 she received an M.Sc. in Forensic Sciences and Engineering. Currently she works as a Desk Officer and Forensic Archaeologist for the State Archaeological Heritage Office in Saxony.
