Lunchtime chat

Registration is closed for this event
Come to our regular gathering of CIfA members, combining the networking of live events with archaeological topics.

Description

Comments on social media, such as during the Heritage Chat on Twitter, have highlighted how much people are missing the everyday networking opportunities which have been halted due to lockdown procedures.

Join us for Lunchtime chat, a digital lunch break, from 12:30 until 13:15. Expand your social network from the comfort of your own home or wherever you are currently located, and perhaps chat with some people on Zoom other than your daily contacts! CIfA staff will also be joining in on the conversations, so feel free to say hello!

The topics for this lunch time chat will be:

  • Neurodiversity in Archaeology
Building on our discussions about dyslexia and archaeology we want to continue to expand our awareness, resources and good practice experience, and to start to cover other neurodivergence such as dyscalculia, dyspraxia and autism.

  • Prospect Archaeologists Group
What we can do for you, and what you can do for us. An opportunity to chat to the branch chair, Jessica Bryan and Branch Organiser, Louise Staniforth all things Prospect Union. They will be chatting about what they have been doing this year, what their focus is for the rest of 2020, how they are collaborating with others in the industry and where our responsibilities lie. Also a chance to ask any questions you may have.

  • Aiming for Associate?
A discussion to help guide Practitioner members in taking that next step toward meeting the Associate criteria. Find out more about what resources are available to assist in your career development, the training you may need and ask any questions that you may have about the process.

How it works

Our lunch time chats will be conducted through Zoom and on joining the meeting, you'll be able to select a separate discussion room based on the topic of your choice, so that each topic can be discussed with a smaller group.

The Zoom details will be sent out an hour prior to the start of the discussion. Joining our lunch time discussions are free to attend with up to 100 places available.

Guidance

We hope to keep the rules fairly minimal, but will add to ensure people have a safe and fun time:

  1. Be kind: this is a place for socialisation, not isolation
  2. Share the air: let others speak, try to avoid dominating the conversation
  3. If something isn’t working tell staff

Future Topics

We're always interested in your thoughts and ideas for interesting topics that could be featured in future lunch break sessions. If you have any suggestions for future discussions, please do send them to us by completing our submission form.
