Responsible Post Holder Meeting
Our next Responsible Post Holder meeting will be held at Bedern Hall in York. We have an interesting agenda planned around “Lessons Learned” and would like you to think about the actions you have taken when things have not gone to plan – creative solutions, collaborations or partnerships, mitigation measures etc. How have you rescued a situation, or even turned it into a success!
This meeting is for Registered Organisations and their Responsible Post Holders or a delegate nominated by the RO's RPH.
Lunch and refreshments will be provided. Please register if you will be able to attend. If you find yourself unable to attend, please give CIfA at least 72 hours' notice to avoid a cancellation fee.
Agenda
10:30 - Arrival, tea/coffee, networking
11:00 - CIfA updates and review of resources

Our dead are never dead to us, until we have forgotten them
Andy Crockett, Wessex Archaeology
In the white-hot furnace of commercial development, we can be forgiven for occasionally forgetting that sometimes our clients aren’t the movers and shakers of industry, and sometimes just Mr and Mrs Jones from down the road. On occasion, we encounter the perfect storm – Mr and Mrs Jones from down the road, and probably the most expensive archaeology available – dead people. This short reflection on recent experiences, dealing primarily with human remains in church contexts either directly or indirectly financed through Parochial Church Councils, will offer insight into some of the pitfalls and hazards out there, how to avoid them and/or mitigate them, and what are the lessons that can be learned?
Rob Sutton, Cotswold Archaeology Topic tbc
13:00 - Lunch
13:45 - Review of the RO scheme
The RO scheme is under constant review and evolves to meet contemporary needs. What are its key strengths. Where are the areas for improvement and change.
Which aspects of the scheme are most important/valuable/meaningful? What should RO status mean and how do we ensure it?
15:15 - CIfA Chartership
15:45 - Wrap up
16:00 - End of day
16:00 - CIfA Chartership - Town hall discussion (open to all!)
The Registered Organisation scheme fosters a culture of quality improvement and confident professionalism and this is an opportunity for Registered Organisation Responsible Post Holders to discuss issues of concern to the sector and to influence potential developments within the scheme
