ARCA is a specialist geoarchaeological contractor offering a range of Geoarchaeology services for developers, commercial archaeologists, curatorial and academic clients. Founded in 2005, and based in the Department of Archaeology, Anthropology and Geography, University of Winchester, our highly-trained specialist staff members combine academic expertise with experience of delivering high-quality commercial solutions. Being linked to an academic department, ARCA have access to a wealth of specialist knowledge, whilst maintaining active links to cutting-edge research. At our base in the Department of Archaeology, we have dedicated laboratory facilities and a full range of specialist drilling, survey and analytical equipment.
The department itself is home to a growing range of humanities-, science- and vocation-based undergraduate Archaeology, Anthropology and Geography programmes as well as three Master’s programmes. Our facilities are of an exceptionally high standard and are continually upgraded. We have an excellent reputation for archaeological fieldwork (both survey and excavation) and the department undertakes a variety of field projects. Laboratory teaching and research is supported by a dedicated technician.
