Perth and Kinross Heritage Trust (PKHT) is seeking a skilled and passionate Senior Historic Buildings Officer to lead its building conservation programmes, support traditional skills development, and engage communities with the region’s heritage. This senior, strategic and hands-on role is central to PKHT’s mission to preserve and promote Scotland’s built heritage.

PKHT is an independent charity dedicated to conserving and promoting the historic environment of Perth and Kinross. For over 30 years, it has delivered projects in archaeology, conservation, skills training and engagement, connecting people with their heritage while supporting regeneration and wellbeing. PKHT now seeks a Senior Historic Buildings Officer who can combine vision with practical expertise.
The Role
You will lead PKHT’s conservation and heritage programmes, managing high-profile projects, overseeing grant schemes, supporting skills development, and engaging communities. Responsibilities include:
- Delivering the Perth City Heritage Fund, managing grants and projects to funder standards.
- Leading the Community Heritage Grant Scheme, supporting applicants and monitoring progress.
- Driving outreach and training initiatives such as Doors Open Days and skills workshops.
- Co-managing the Outreach and Skills Officer, contributing to strategic planning and deputising for the CEO.
- Building strong stakeholder relationships and ensuring compliance with funding and legislation.
About You
You will have a degree or equivalent experience in building conservation, architecture, planning or a related field, with demonstrable experience in conservation projects and grant schemes. Strong financial, organisational and communication skills are essential, alongside knowledge of legislation and best practice in historic buildings conservation.
