Why Join MAP?

As a CIfA Registered Organisation, MAP is committed to upholding the highest professional standards in archaeology. With a team that includes several individually accredited members, we strive to embody CIfA’s core values—ensuring our staff are competent, capable, and ethically driven in all aspects of our work.

We prioritise health and safety, maintaining all current competencies across the team. If you join us without specific accreditations, we’ll actively support you in gaining the relevant qualifications—over two-thirds of our team are already first aid trained.

Professional development is essential to our culture. We host quarterly team-wide events that include internal and external CPD sessions, team-building activities, and social gatherings. All staff also have access to a free and confidential Employee Assistance Programme as well as internal routes for suggestions and support.

At MAP, we value innovation and collaboration. We encourage team members to bring fresh ideas and new skills to the table, exploring how they can be integrated into our business and practice.

Where are we working?

MAP’s projects are primarily based in Yorkshire and Lincolnshire, with our main office located in Malton. While we do undertake work across the UK, accommodation and subsistence are currently provided only for what is deemed away work based on an individual's location. Therefore, successful applicants should reside within a commutable distance of Malton—such as York, Leeds, Beverley.

We operate a fleet of vehicles available for staff use (subject to age and driving eligibility), and travel time (for all) exceeding one hour is compensated as TOIL, with drivers receiving additional payments. When accommodation is required, we provide high-quality self-catered accommodation located close to local amenities, ensuring comfort and convenience during fieldwork.
