Join MOLA's Archives team and play a key role in preparing archaeological archives for long-term preservation and public access.
Based in Northampton, you will work as part of our regional archives team to prepare physical and digital archaeological archives for deposition with the appropriate repositories. The role includes processing archive material to national and repository-specific standards, compiling archive documentation and metadata, maintaining accurate records, and supporting the delivery of archaeological archive projects. You will also have the opportunity to assist work experience students undertaking archive tasks.
We are looking for someone with a degree in archaeology or a related subject (or equivalent experience), excellent organisational skills and attention to detail, and experience of archaeological archiving. A good knowledge of current archaeological archiving standards is essential. Experience of fieldwork and/or post-excavation work, together with knowledge of digital archive requirements, would be advantageous. A full UK driving licence is required, as attendance at other MOLA offices forms part of this role.
