CIfA’s UK Salary Benchmarking Survey published

Thursday, 12th March 2026

The 2024-25 Salary Benchmarking report is now available. To support the sector to better understand market trends in pay across sample job roles in archaeology and comparator industries, CIfA undertakes salary benchmarking on an annual basis.

We hope that the information in this report will be useful to employers, employees, trade unions and sector representative bodies, and provide a basis for championing better paid roles to improve the way archaeologists’ skills are valued and rewarded.

Benchmarking is carried out using data from job adverts in CIfA’s Jobs, Training and Volunteer Bulletin and the British Archaeological Jobs Resource (BAJR) and publicly available comparator salary survey and pay data. You can find more information on the methodology here.

Over the coming weeks, we will be publishing a series of short discussion pieces from a range of stakeholders exploring different aspects of the data.
