The founders of The Arc (the online resource that helps clients find specialist historic environment professionals) have reaffirmed their shared commitment to collaboration and professional excellence by signing a new Memorandum of Understanding.

The Arc was established by four professional bodies: the Chartered Institute of Architectural Technologists (CIAT), the Chartered Institute for Archaeologists (CIfA), the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) and the Institute of Conservation (Icon).

Together, these organisations created The Arc to help clients quickly identify and engage specialist historic environment professionals, including archaeologists, architectural technologists, construction professionals and conservator-restorers.

Every professional listed on a register featured on The Arc is recognised by their professional bodies as highly-skilled in the study and care of the historic environment.

Having launched just over a year ago, The Arc will complete its first full year of operation in 2025 and is developing plans for 2026 and beyond. The focus will be on expanding its reach and strengthening collaboration.

Plans for the next phase include engaging with additional register holders to join The Arc and building wider support among organisations working in the historic environment, ensuring The Arc becomes a central hub for clients to find trusted professional expertise.
