Taking control of your career: professional development beyond PCIfA

How do we take ownership of our career development? Early in your career, your employer might guide you through training and learning opportunities. As you take on more responsibilities or start to specialise, finding the right training can feel inaccessible or unaffordable.

This workshop will help you navigate these issues, allowing you to determine whether a training opportunity is filling a skill shortage within your organisation or actively progressing your career. 

This workshop asks:

• How do we keep sight of our career goals whilst building up the skills we need to do our jobs?
• How do we negotiate with our employers to get access to training that will build their business whilst helping us progress?
• How do we find high quality training at the right level for us? Who supports us to learn?
• How do employers decide what training we need? Is it what we want? How can training choices help the sector?

This workshop is for archaeologists moving towards mid-career who would like to maximise their next career stage. 

Historic England bursaries

In addition to the reduced tickets for low-income delegates, we are pleased to announce that Historic England will be providing bursary support for any student, early career, or unemployed archaeologists living, working, or studying in England.

We have bursaries available which will pay for recipients' registration fees.
