Finds Group Annual General Meeting and talk

You are invited to join the Annual General Meeting of the CIfA Finds Group on Monday 1 December 2025 from 13:00 - 14:00 as we look over the successes of the last year and outlay plans for the next. 

We will also feature a presentation from committee member Peter Guest, A Legion of Finds.

The recently-published excavation of the legionary store building at Priory Field in Caerleon produced a very large and diverse finds assemblage, including some exceptionally rare items of military equipment. This was the first building of its kind excavated to modern standards in the Roman Empire and the excavation exposed the building’s main entranceway, a guard chamber, a stairwell and four store rooms. In this talk, Peter Guest will describe the work involved in conserving and identifying the excavated finds, and what their integrated analysis tells us about when the building was constructed, what was stored in it, when it ceased to be used, and what happened to it during and after the later Roman period.

Event pricing

This event is free for all CIfA members to attend; this includes CIfA Finds Group supporters.

There is a fee of £5 for all non-members of CIfA.
