We’re excited to announce a in person networking event for CIfA Scottish Group set in the inspiring surroundings of the National Museum of Scotland. Join us for a day of thoughtful discussion on the practice of archaeology and heritage in Scotland today.
Agenda
10.30 - Meet in Hawthornden Court in National Museum of Scotland, Chambers Street, Edinburgh
11:00 – 11:30 - A short talk by Dr Beccy Jones (National Museum of Scotland) reflecting on the challenges of refreshing a 25-year-old permanent exhibition.
11:30 - 13:00 - Participants choose an object in the gallery and give a 2 minute talk about their object, explaining why it is their favourite item within the collection. We’ll rotate around the gallery to hear everyone’s insights.
13:00 – 14:00 - Lunch (provided)
14:00 – 16:45 - An afternoon of talks and discussion around method and practice
- Steve Birch (West Coast Archaeological Services) - High Pasture Cave: ten key moments from discovery to publication
- Jeff Sanders (Society of Antiquaries of Scotland) - Meeting A Myriad of Archaeological Audiences
- Liz Robson (University of Stirling) - The Practical Application of Social Values in Scotland’s Heritage

Lunch is included in the booking fee. Please indicate on your registration form if you have any dietary requirements.
