About Heneb: The Trust for Welsh Archaeology

Heneb is a charitable organisation committed to preserving and promoting Wales' rich archaeological heritage.   As part of our ongoing commitment to volunteering through co-operative working and sector collaboration, we have been awarded a grant by the Wales Council for Voluntary Action (WCVA) to develop a heritage and volunteering network for Wales.

We seek a professional, enthusiastic and self-motivated individual with experience in project management, stakeholder engagement and outreach in Wales to support delivery of this 18-month project.

Job Purpose

The WCVA project officer will be responsible for identifying Heneb’s key stakeholders from within history societies, heritage organisations and community archaeology groups, undertaking targeted engagement and developing lasting relationships between Heneb and the wider sector.   This work will feed into the development of a national volunteering network for heritage and archaeology.  This role involves identifying new opportunities, developing partnerships, and increasing overall engagement with Heneb.  The successful candidate will work closely with Heneb’s national lead for the Outreach Dept. and the senior leadership team to create and implement strategies that align with Heneb's WCVA grant outcomes.

  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders including history societies, heritage organisations and community archaeology groups
  • Represent Heneb at industry events, conferences, and meetings to promote the WCVA project
  • Generate engaging media content to promote the work of Heneb and the WCVA project

Strategy, Planning and Delivery

  • Work with senior management to develop an agreed methodology
  • Implement a robust project management framework and establish key milestones in agreement with senior management
  • Identify challenges and opportunities at an early stage and develop mitigation strategies
  • Deliver the project on-time, to a high standard, meeting the project aims as agreed with the WCVA and senior management

Reporting & Administration

  • Maintain accurate records of WCVA project activities
  • Provide regular informal updates and formal reports on progress, challenges, and results to the National Lead for Outreach, Chief Executive and to the WCVA
  • Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards and legislation in all project activities including compliance with GDPR, the Chartered Institute of Archaeologists Code of Best Practice and WCVA guidance

  • Impeccable time management, with the ability to manage complex project interdependencies

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Experience working within a heritage or archaeological organisation
  • Experience managing volunteers
  • Relevant degree in heritage, archaeology, or a related field
