MOLA is seeking a Medieval and Post-Medieval Pottery Specialist to join its Ceramics Specialist Team. We have an increasingly diverse and interesting portfolio of exciting projects throughout the UK for which the successful candidate will take an active supportive role.
The Role
The successful candidate will work as part of the Ceramics Team to undertake the post-excavation assessment and analysis of medieval and post-medieval pottery from on-going and future projects. They will be expected to contribute to and develop understanding of the past through the identification, analysis, interpretation and reporting of medieval and post-medieval assemblages.
Key responsibilities:
- To identify, record, analyse, interpret and report upon medieval and post-medieval pottery excavated from MOLAs sites across the country for evaluation, assessment, analysis and publication reports
- To act as an expert within their specialist area, liaising with clients and colleagues during excavation and post-excavation to produce project designs for appropriate techniques and procedures for sampling and recovery of medieval and post-medieval pottery
- To contribute to the development of MOLA and its research and engagement programmes.
- To contribute to the successful commercial operation of MOLA, by working within defined project objectives, budgets and timetables.
