Information Management SIG online DigITea talk session

Description
The Information Management SIG invites you to join us for our series of short online talks from 12:30 until 13:30 on Thursday 13 November 2025.
Each session will have a focus on a specific topic, and we welcome everyone regardless of their level of pre-existing knowledge.
This session will feature a talk by Colleen Morgan on Gathering and Managing Archaeological Data for Worldbuilding and other Creative Reuse
Abstract:
In a recent publication I discuss the power of archaeological worldbuilding, "the aggregation of multiple lines of archaeological evidence through imaginative, discussion-provoking questions that create an interpretive framework conducive for reuse" (Morgan, 2025). After 20 years of creating digital interpretations of archaeology and more recent work with creative practitioners, I have found worldbuilding to be a productive metaphor for imaginative interaction with the past. Yet much of the current systems of categorising and managing data do not enable easy reuse. In this talk I hope to collaborate with the CIfA experts in information management to productively query our shared practice, and find ways forward to ensure data fidelity, availability, and to build a better past, together.
