Description

Don Walker is a Senior Human Osteologist at MOLA, and has worked with human skeletal remains from multiple projects around London. Among his many accomplishments he has contributed to numerous monographs, wrote an English Heritage funded textbook on palaeopathology in London, and collaborated with the University of Bradford and the Royal College of Surgeons for the Digitised Diseases project. He also assists the Metropolitan Police in forensic enquiries and has featured in a number of television documentaries. This talk will address what we can learn from the analysis of human remains and how they help us understand London's history.

The CPeasyD series is a succession of short one-hour workshops run by CIfA London Area Group. They are an opportunity to learn about topics that directly influence archaeology in London but often fall outside of the usual training regimes for most commercial units. They are a good chance to network with other local archaeologists, learn from an expert, and log an hour of CPD with an official CIfA certificate.

Usually these workshops are held in a pub, where members can enjoy 30 minutes of informative and educational presentations followed by half an hour of discussion and questions over your beverage of choice and some snacks. Alas, in these circumstances you will need to supply your own refreshments, but we will endeavour to supply useful and engaging information.

Topics are designed to be of particular interest to archaeologists in the PCIfA and ACIfA grades looking to gain some wider knowledge about commercial archaeology in London. People of all levels are invited to attend and contribute to the discussion. Suggestions for future topics are always welcome.

Unfortunately this session is now full with a waitlist available - the presentation will be recorded and available to view following the session if you are unable to register.
