Finding a Career in Finds: A Tea Break with the Early Careers and Finds Groups

Description
The CIfA Finds Group and Early Careers Group are excited to announce our upcoming Tea Break on Wednesday 9th August 18:00 - 19:00. Our online, free event will be a structured but informal chat featuring a variety of finds specialists who not only cover a range of specialisms (like zooarchaeology and metalwork) but also work in different capacities including in commercial units or are self-employed. We welcome anyone interested in finds work, whether you’re just starting out or have specific career ideas in mind. Alongside our guest finds specialists we will have committee members of the Early Careers Group who aid with relevant training programmes, job resources and more.
Finds research is an integral part of the archaeological process and it is well known that we are at a careers crisis point. Knowledge is being lost as finds specialists are retiring across the UK and training in finds is not widely available. We are keen to hear about your relevant experiences and career journeys, using your testimonies (with permission!) as a body of evidence to influence the objectives of the Finds Group.
Pre-event Task
Please complete our short anonymous survey to help us gather data about your experience of finding a career in finds, and prepare for the Tea Break. We will be presenting these answers during the Tea Break so please bear that in mind, and keep your responses anonymous. There will also be time to complete this during the Tea Break itself!
