Description

For our next CPD workshop we are offering you a flexible opportunity to access this CPD opportunity at a time which suits you. This digital online course will be available to access for one week at any time of day. When you sign up, you will receive the access details.

As archaeologists we work in a variety of work environments – from offices to engagement events or conferences, from construction sites to public facing projects. This variety of workplaces results in archaeologists often meeting and engaging with a wide range of stakeholders.  In the UK, there are 10-11 million people who are deaf or hard of hearing (one in six) and it is likely that at some point in your career you will work alongside or encounter someone who has a degree of hearing loss.

This bitesize training from ‘Get Deaf Aware Online’ is aimed at organisations and individuals who want an introduction to, and to gain a basic understanding of deaf awareness in the workplace.

Over this 45-minute online CPD course, you will learn about

  • Terms and characteristics of deafness
  • Tactics to help you improve communication with deaf people
  • How to recognise communication aids for deaf people
  • How to provide a better customer experience for deaf people
  • The importance of deaf awareness in the Workplace

This CPD workshop is for archaeologists of all grades and career levels, who wish to awareness of this subject area.

The workshop will take place online – you will receive the access information in your confirmation email after you have booked. Please check your spam folder if you have not received this. Your access will be available from Friday 24th March to Friday 31st March. Please note that booking will close on Friday 31st March.

This CPD opportunity is subsidised by the Historic Environment Scotland Organisational Support Fund and supports the delivery of Aim 5 of Scotland’s Archaeology Strategy. This funding helps subsidise the cost of delivering the workshop and enables us to offer you affordable CPD opportunities.

Why is CPD important? As a CIfA accredited archaeologist, you should ensure that you have the appropriate skills and knowledge for the archaeological work you do and to keep those skills up to date. All individual accredited archaeologists must complete at least 50 hours of CPD every two years – remember to add this webinar to your CPD log.

If you have any questions about the training or have ideas for future CPD sessions, please get in touch with Cara (cara.jones@archaeologists.net).
