We provide a full range of fieldwork, surveying, built heritage and post-excavation services and employ a team of nationally or internationally renowned in-house specialists.
The Company is seeking an experienced archaeological surveyor to be based at our London Offices. This position has become available due to staff movement. This position is not suitable for hybrid working and therefore the successful candidate must be able to attend the office full-time.
The Position
The successful candidate will be responsible for all aspects of the survey requirements of the London Office, and some regional offices, including: undertaking survey for sites, historic buildings and landscapes; producing set out data and graphics for WSIs and similar; training staff in site survey as required; overseeing the purchase, hire and maintenance of survey equipment, licences and software; carrying out aspects of logistics relating to survey and on-site data capture, including the maintenance and deployment of photographic equipment. The post will be based in the London offices in Brockley, but some travel to site/other PCA offices will be required on occasion.
Essential Skills and Experience:
- Carrying out GNSS and TST survey to provide survey control and record archaeological sites
- Carrying out GNSS and TST survey to record historic buildings and landscapes.
- Preparation of setout data, uploading data and preparing equipment for site
- Downloading and processing and editing survey data for the composition of drawings in AutoCAD and QGIS
- Knowledge of processing software, AutoCAD and QGIS
- Training of site staff in site survey and data capture
- Managing the purchase, hire and deployment of survey equipment
- Archiving survey data
- Background and experience in archaeological excavation including substantial experience within an urban context
Full UK driving licence
Desirable Skills and Experience:
- Experience in Photogrammetry
- Degree in archaeology or an allied subject
- Membership of CIfA at MIfA level
- Knowledge of digital recording systems
