CIfA Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) committee - recruitment for a committee member

What is the CIfA EDI committee?

The purpose of the EDI committee is to support the Board of Directors in delivering its strategy for equality, diversity and inclusion. We develop strategic advice for the Board, build training programmes, and conduct research that will inform future practice and policy.

The Committee currently has a panel of six members. We have a blend of senior and early career members, representation of disabled people, of gender diverse people, people from the Global Majority*, people with caring responsibilities, people from working class backgrounds.

Who are we looking for?

In line with the Regulations for the Equality, Diversity and Inclusion committee, we are looking for an accredited member of CIfA (Practitioner, Associate or Member) who is passionate about making archaeology a more inclusive, accessible, and representative profession. You do not need to have previous committee experience to apply, and there are CPD opportunities available to committee members. You should be available for our regular meetings (see time commitments below), which take place online via Teams.

What is the time commitment?

There are monthly meetings on Mondays, usually around 12:00, which last a maximum of 1.5 hours. Depending on the current work of the committee, there may also be opportunities to undertake other work such as conducting surveys, feeding into research, and networking across the profession. There is no pressure to take part in these and they are totally flexible as to your availability.

How to apply

Please complete the application form using the link below and email this to alex.llewellyn@archaeologists.net.

If you need any support in completing this, such as a 1-2-1 call or to provide your answers in video or audio format, please let us know; we do not want the application process to be a barrier to anyone interested in the role.

Nominations should be submitted by 1 March 2024.
