Value, sustainability and heritage impact

At the CIfA Conference in Leeds earlier this year, Christopher Dore made the business case that to have a large heritage impact, organisations must be sustainable. And to be organisationally sustainable requires an ongoing increase in financial value. The lecture presented the case for value growth and its importance, but didn’t show how value is calculated and measured. As a follow up Christopher and Kenneth Aitchison (Landward Research Ltd) wrote an article that was published in the latest edition of The Archaeologist explaining more about measuring value. You can download the article using this link.

This subject was also touched upon as part of a recent Twitter chat hosted by CIfA as part of the 'Re-imagining Scottish Archaeology: structures, delivery and funding' workshop series.
