Vacancy: Events Manager maternity cover (12 months)

We are looking to recruit an Events Manager (maternity cover) to manage our varied programme of conferences and events. The Events Manager will be responsible for the development, organisation, and marketing of the Chartered Institute’s programme of internal and external events and will work with senior staff to develop and improve these over the next 12 months

The Chartered Institute for Archaeologists is the leading professional institute representing archaeologists in the UK and overseas. We champion professionalism in archaeology, setting and monitoring professional standards and promoting best practice. We have just over 3900 individual members and 81 organisations on our register. We received our Royal Charter in 2014 and since then have seen a growth in our membership and profile.

In 2018 we introduced an event manager position, which has seen member engagement increase successfully in that time. We are keen to maintain our events programme to support our aims and maximise on the opportunities open to us. Due to the changes required by the COVID-19 pandemic, we have shifted our event programme to an exclusively digital setting for the time being. Our staff are currently working from home, but we have an office in Reading should safe office work become a possibility in the future. As we move out of lockdown, we may return to physical events, but our current priority is digital content.

You will have had previous experience of successfully running and developing a variety of small and large scale professional events, with a proven track record of maintaining a good working relationship with clients, delegates and colleagues. You will understand the basics of digital events and be confident with technology to assiststaff with our event platforms and when issues arise. Ideally you will have had experience of working with professional institutes and with volunteers and have membership of a relevant professional body.

If you require any reasonable adjustments during our recruitment processes, including assistance with reading this page or associated documents, please contact admin@archaeologists.net.

To apply, please send us a cover letter explaining your experience and how you meet the job description and person specification, along with a copy of your CV to lianne.birney@archaeologists.net

Closing date for applications is 9am on 19 August. Interviews are expected to take place in the week commencing 31 August.
