MK Archaeology Day 2019: Archaeology in the Community

This free open day returns on Saturday 2nd November to Christ the Cornerstone Church, 300 Saxon Gate, Milton Keynes, MK9 2ES.

The draft programme is:

Morning (10am – 12:30)

Children’s Activity (Ages 8+): Hands on 3D Techniques in Archaeology hosted by Cotswold Archaeology

Community Groups: Displays, information and activities from archaeology and heritage groups – including Wing Heritage Project, Upper Nene Archaeological Society, Bucks Archaeological Society and Woughton Heritage Group

Finds displays: Discoveries from Bucks and beyond by the Magiovinium Metal Detector Club and friends

Afternoon: Talks on the theme ‘Archaeology in the Community’

1:00pm - Piecing together our Past - the legacy and impact of the Jigsaw community archaeology project in Cambridgeshire - Clemency Cooper, Oxford Archaeology East

1:30pm - Community Archaeology in Wing– Sarah Roe, Wing Heritage Project

2:00pm - Community Archaeology in North Hertfordshire – Gil Burleigh, North Herts Arch Soc

2:30pm - Active Archaeology in Buckinghamshire - Doug Stuckey, Bucks Archaeological Society AAG
