Heritage Lottery Fund announces new Skills for the Future programme

The Heritage Lottery Fund has announced a new round of Skills for the Future funding. The funding seeks to target skills shortages in the heritage sector, encouraging more people, from a more diverse range of backgrounds, to consider a career in heritage. See www.hlf.org.uk/about-us/news-features/stepping-skills-ladder for the full press release.

The historic environment sector, and archaeology specifically, has benefitted significantly from previous HLF skills funding programmes. CIfA will not be submitting another bid this time but is keen to encourage its members and Registered Organisations to consider developing proposals. There are a number of resources produced as part of our previous Workplace Learning Placement scheme which are free to access via the CIfA website at www.archaeologists.net/trainingtoolkit. We can provide initial advice and guidance to members submitting bids or take a formal partnership role through, for example, the provision of NVQ assessment or through the design of training around National Occupational Standards.

If you are considering a bid and would like to discuss how CIfA might be able to help, please contact kate.geary [at] archaeologists.net.
