CIfA responds to Stoke-on-Trent City Council's proposed cuts to its museum service

On Friday 21 January, CIfA wrote to Stoke-on-Trent City Council in response to its budget consultation, which includes a proposal to cut the overall budget of the city’s museums with the aim of saving £112k annually. The cuts would restructure staffing at the Gladstone Pottery Museum and the Potteries Museum and Art Gallery, leading to the loss of specialist roles, as well as reduced hours of operation across both sites, with the Gladstone museum being closed to the public over winter months.
