Archaeological Research in Progress (ARP) conference - Call for Papers

Planning is underway for the Archaeological Research in Progress (ARP) conference which will take place on Saturday 27 May 2017 in Edinburgh. The Society is managing the event this year (with our partners Archaeology Scotland) and we are keen to put together a programme reflecting the best practise and new research findings from across Scotland and beyond as part of Dig It! 2017. If you would like to take part in this highlight of the archaeology calendar please see below for the Call for Proposals. Please feel free to forward this Call for Papers to interested colleagues.

ARP also provides an opportunity for sponsorship, highlighting collaboration across the sector to support the rapid dissemination archaeological research.

Archaeological Research in Progress 2017 – Call for Papers
Scotland’s national annual Archaeological Research in Progress (ARP) conference will take place on Saturday 27 May 2017 at the National Museums Scotland, Edinburgh. The Society hosted event aims to cover archaeological research in progress from around Scotland covering all periods. For 2017 Year of History, Heritage and Archaeology we will also invite colleagues from beyond Scotland to share their exciting research too.

Do you have a project that you would like to present at the ARP this year? We are inviting proposals for 20 minute papers that demonstrate best practice and new research findings. Please submit the following information to director [at] socantscot.org by end of Sunday 12 February 2017.
· Title of Paper
· Short description: maximum 35 words to be used in ARP programme and publicity
· Longer description: a concise description of your research to include the purpose, methods and implications of the work and brief biographical information on organisations and/or individuals involved. Maximum 400 words.

Our aim is to programme a breadth of chronological and geographical projects from across Scotland and beyond. So we are also asking you to nominate research from beyond Scotland that you would like to see included in ARP 2017! For this we will require a short description of the research and contact details for the researchers.
We will get back to you as soon as possible to let you know if you are on the programme (and ask for images for publicity if you are). The event will be recorded and available online free to view afterwards on our website.

Travel expenses will be reimbursed and accommodation paid for, where necessary, for a single presenter per paper included in the programme. For further information contact Simon Gilmour director [at] socantscot.org or call 0131 247 4115.

Sponsorship Options and Opportunities
We are also seeking support to help us deliver a quality conference.

Supporting the conference provides you with the opportunity to promote your support for rapid knowledge dissemination, research excellence and interdisciplinary collaboration. Sponsorship benefits include branding on all print and digital programmes, the opportunity to display material at the conference and delegate places. The attached document gives details of the sponsorship benefits. All contributions, in cash or in kind, are welcome so please do contact me if you would like to discuss ways you can be involved in the 2017 ARP.
I look forward to hearing about your research and your ideas for research from elsewhere to be included.
