Specialist Work-Based Placements

Specialist work-based training placements are 12-month posts delivered in partnership by Historic England and CIfA. Placements are hosted by Historic England and employed and overseen by CIfA.
Two new placement opportunities are currently available and applications are welcome.

Salary £18,000

Subject: Landscape investigation
Location: Cambridge
Placement duration: 12 months starting around the end of January 2018

Subject: Archaeobotany
Location: Portsmouth
Placement duration: 12 months starting around the end of January 2018

Application requirements

  • Placements are extremely popular. Applicants should read the person specification carefully and try to address each point, giving examples wherever possible.

  • Enthusiasm is very important - don’t forget to tell us why you are applying for the placement

  • Ideally you should have a relevant degree (or equivalent experience) with 6-18 months’ post-graduate work experience in UK historic environment practice.

  • You may have a post-graduate qualification or comparable practical experience in a historic environment discipline.

  • You may be looking for an opportunity to diversify into a new branch of the subject or to enhance skills you have already gained.
