Summary

Historic England have a fantastic new opportunity for you to join us as our Stonehenge Project Manager. You will have the opportunity to become involved in the management of one of the most iconic archaeological sites in England. The intrusion of the existing A303 road as it passes through the Stonehenge landscape is considerable and it has long been Historic England`s aspiration to find a solution which removes the visual impact and noise of the road from this exceptional place.

If you are looking for an opportunity to add value and make a real difference by working with colleagues across the organization in taking the lead in providing advice and project coordination for our engagement through the South West Region, then this is the ideal opportunity for you to join us.

This is a full-time 12-month fixed term contract.

The location of the role is based in the South West - we will consider hybrid working where you are based in the office and home.

What you will be doing?

As a valuable team member, you will oversee Historic England`s on-going provision of statutory and non-statutory advice relating to the proposed A303 improvement scheme within Stonehenge, Avebury and Associated Sites World Heritage Sites (WHS).

You will be responsible for coordinating Historic England`s advice on proposals to deliver improved infrastructure through the WHS, working in close collaboration with a range of internal colleagues and external heritage bodies.

Who we are looking for:

-Educated to degree level or equivalent in a relevant subject
-Excellent understanding of relevant Government policy, guidance and statutory procedures
-Excellent communication skills
-Proven ability to work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team
-Delivery focused and the able to work under pressure to strict deadlines

We are an equal opportunity employer which values diversity and inclusion. If you have a disability, we would be happy to discuss reasonable adjustments to the job with you. Having just won the Gold Award from MIND, we also recognize the importance of a healthy work-life balance. We offer a wide benefits package including a competitive pension scheme, a generous 28 days holiday, corporate discounts, free entry into English Heritage sites across the county and development opportunities to ensure you achieve your goals.
