Summary

As an Historic Environment Data Manager at HS2, you will assure, manage and maximise the potential of those data in order that HS2 Ltd meets its Environmental Minimum Requirements, notably the Heritage Memorandum.

You will strike a balance between working collaboratively and providing specialist input internally and to HS2 supply chain as well as ensuring project outcomes and timescales are met with value for money at the forefront of decision-making. The role will include working with a wide range of stakeholders including contractors, Local Authorities and data specialists.

About the role:

  • Manage the flow of digital information and data between HS2 Ltd, contractors and stakeholders.
  • Specify, manage, and review data standards, GIS data schema specifications, quality and assurance procedures relating to historic environment information
  • Liaise with HS2 Ltd Digital Engineering Team team to ensure the data submission is uploaded into the HS2 Common Data Environment (CDE), its submission has been recorded within the relevant asset information register and that it is made available to the relevant Digital Engineering visualisation and integration tools, such as the HS2 web mapping platform (G-Viewer).
  • Undertake the oversight, management and auditing of historic environment data holdings so that HS2 staff may, at all times have an accurate understanding of the nature, location and extent of the projects data holdings in relation to the Historic Environment.
  • Maintain and manage the HERDS Digital Platform’s membership and content and ensure data relating to the Historic Environment Investigations is hosted in a timely and organised manner, available to all required parties and that the platforms functionality is sufficient for routine use by HS2 staff, contractors and Stakeholders.
  • Liaise with the Archaeology Data Service in relation to digital archive deposition and the delivery of OASIS records by contractors.
  • Development of opportunities relating to the geospatial resources associated with Historic Environment Investigations.
  • Oversee the management and update of the HS2 suite of GIS Standards and Specifications for historic environment.
  • Work across all HS2 Phase team to ensure consistency of approach, promote best practice, disseminate lessons learned and value for money.
  • Represent HS2 Ltd at Stakeholder and community events as required and work with HS2 Corporate Affairs to promote the project to internal and external audiences as required.
  • Continue to develop professionally, maintaining technical competencies and identifying opportunities for learning new skills to meet work objectives more effectively.

About You:

  • Educated in GIS, Computer Science, Information Systems or a related field to at least degree level or equivalent and/or a track record demonstrating professional development
  • Experience of collaboration with contractors and consultants about digital data delivery.
  • Skilled in] data governance, management, manipulation, modelling and metadata management
  • Experience in the assurance and management of digital data from historic environment activities
  • Experience of engagement with stakeholders and partners about data, for example, Local Planning Authority Historic Environment Records(HERs), Historic England, and the Archaeology Data Service (ADS)
