Summary

Here at The Environmental Dimension Partnership Ltd (EDP) we love what we do and the people we work with are a big part of that. Challenging projects require innovative solutions from creative and talented individuals who want to progress their careers in a forward thinking and rewarding environment. Do you think this could be you?

EDP is a multi-disciplinary environmental planning consultancy which provides high quality advice and support for a wide range of development projects across the country from our offices in Cardiff, Cirencester and Cheltenham.

The Archaeology and Heritage team are looking for skilled, knowledgeable and, above all, enthusiastic consultants who wish to develop their careers and enhance our existing team. Qualified to degree level in a subject related to archaeology, heritage or the historic environment; you will also have a good understanding of how these subject areas relate to the planning systems of England and/or Wales.

As a Consultant/Senior Consultant you will be responsible for researching and compiling both archaeological and heritage assessments, and so the ability to assimilate and assess large quantities of information and write precisely will be key to your skill set. Your role will also include the design, commissioning and management of fieldwork projects, therefore knowledge of the limitations of differing survey methods would be an advantage.

The successful candidate/s will be confident, and have the ability to negotiate effectively with landowners, local authorities and archaeological contractors to promote the interests of our clients. EDP excels in providing our clients with timely and accurate advice in respect of the interaction of development proposals with the historic environment at all stages of the planning process.

If you are considering applying for the Senior Consultant post, we would also expect that you would already have UK consultancy experience, including preparation of Environmental Statement chapters.

The successful candidate/s will be enthusiastic in respect of the type of work undertaken at EDP. You will be positive, proactive, client focussed and committed to maintaining your expertise through internal and external training and research. You will ideally be at least an Associate member of the CIfA or have membership of the IHBC. EDP pay for two professional subscriptions.

Initially, your role will be to support the Archaeology and Heritage Team here at EDP with opportunities to develop your skill set as a result. There will also be opportunities to work with the wider EDP team and to experience how our other core disciplines (ecology, arboriculture, landscape and masterplanning) contribute to the planning process and help create award winning designs and special places to live and work. If you have never been on a bat survey, now is your opportunity!

Salary will depend on qualifications and experience. We consider our benefits package to be very competitive; this includes pension contribution; private health insurance; life assurance; 30 days annual leave (plus Bank Holidays) and a generous profit share bonus scheme. A driving license and access to a car are essential, as the role requires nationwide travel.

If you are interested in joining our team please take a look at our web site www.edp-uk.co.uk to find out more about what we do. To apply please send a comprehensive CV, covering letter and any written work examples to Hannah Parkin at: teamedp@edp-uk.co.uk, including your preferred office location.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the EDP team are predominantly home working with limited access to our offices. All interviews will take place over Microsoft Teams or Zoom, and the role will be home based at present, although it is anticipated that there will be a requirement for office attendance in the future. We have adapted to this new way of working, ensuring that our team members are supported and engaged with each other over digital platforms. Site work continues as normal and we have robust Health and Safety policies and procedures in place to maintain a duty of care to all our team members.

We will be reviewing applications as they are received, with the intention to appoint as soon as possible. Closing date 15th June 2021.
