Summary

We are seeking to employ Project Officers, Senior Archaeologists, and Archaeologists on Permanent, full-time contracts as well as Casual/Self Employed Archaeologists, to support an increasingly busy schedule of excavation work.

For a flavour, here are some of our current projects:

  • Quarry Site in Essex - Open Area Investigation revealing peripheral domestic Romano-British settlement and associated industrial activity.  Our team will be on site for several weeks, with the potential to move westward into the neighbouring field.
  • Berwick – Ongoing excavation of an exceptionally rich Iron Age or Roman stone-built settlement. Beautiful location beside the sea.
  • Dundee – Ongoing excavation of prehistoric structural remains, and a possible Roman fort in a rich archaeological landscape surrounded by several scheduled monuments

Our Archaeology and Heritage services team is based across 6 of Wardell Armstrong’s 14 offices; Bolton, Birmingham, Bury St Edmunds, Carlisle, London and Stoke. Our post-ex hubs in Bury St Edmunds and Carlisle are home to our purpose-built facilities, which provide finds analysis, palaeoenvironmental processing and analysis, post-excavation analysis, publication, and outreach. We are passionate and ambitious. We can offer excellent experience, project ownership and a genuine chance to thrive and develop professionally.

Self-employed archaeologists are welcome to apply for these vacancies and shall be engaged on a sub-contracted basis, requiring appropriate insurance.
