Summary

We are seeking to appoint several new Archaeology and Heritage Consultants with a range of experience in our expanding archaeology and heritage team on a permanent basis.  As part of our dynamic Environment and Sustainability discipline, you will have the opportunity to work on exciting and varied projects.  Our team has a national remit which will provide the successful candidate with an interesting and challenging workload.  You may be working on diverse projects such as flood management and alleviation schemes, quarries, housing and retail developments, Scheduled Monument condition surveys, historic landscape management plans and Listed Building Consents.  We work across the historic environment and projects will encompass archaeology, historic buildings and historic landscapes. 

As a rapidly growing business stream you will be in a position and encouraged to influence the development of a quality focussed service.  The responsibilities will depend on your experience. but you will be undertaking or contributing to the management of projects, undertaking site visits and archival research, providing consultancy advice to and support to internal and external clients and stakeholders, preparing project reports, specifying and overseeing fieldwork programmes, undertaking monument condition surveys, preparing fee proposals and tenders, developing new business and managing and mentoring less experienced staff. 

Who we’re looking for: Successful candidates will be excellent communicators and be able to work effectively as part of a team and independently.  The ideal candidate will have previous experience of working on multiple projects, undertaking archaeological and heritage assessment and the production of reports.  You will have an aptitude for learning and the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines concurrently.  We value professional accreditation and candidates should be members of CIfA and/or IHBC or willing to work to towards accreditation.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with experience and confidence in talking to a variety of audiences.
  • Concise and clear report writing skills.
  • The ability to work effectively independently and within teams.
  • The motivation and initiative to prioritise your own workload.
  • A willingness to share knowledge and experience and mentor less experienced team members.
