Summary

MOLA is looking to recruit two Archaeological Archives Supervisors to join our expanding Archives team.

The successful candidates will be based in Northampton, although they will also need to liaise with colleagues in our other MOLA offices.

The Supervisors will be responsible for overseeing the preparation, storage and deposition of MOLAs archaeological archives.  The archives derive from a wide variety of sites and projects across the country, from small excavations to major infrastructure projects and they will require archiving to differing local repository standards.  As well as the physical and documentary elements, many of the archives now contain a significant digital component and the Supervisors will be working with the data creators, not only to ensure successful deposition but also to help advance our methodologies in this area.

MOLA’s Archivists are integral to the wider multi-disciplinary team and as such, the Supervisors will need to liaise with other colleagues including our field teams, specialists and conservators so the integrity of the archive is maintained at every stage of a project’s life.  There will also be opportunities to contribute to MOLA’s wider research and engagement work, by championing the social value and impact of our archives, contributing to research projects and working on public-facing engagement outputs.

For any queries, or to arrange an informal conversation about the role, please contact our Head of Archives, Theodora Anastasiadou (tanastasiadou@mola.org.uk).
