Lunchtime chat

Registration is closed for this event
Come to our regular gathering of CIfA members, combining the networking of live events with archaeological topics.

Zoom details have now been sent out for this event - if you have registered and not received these, please check your junk mail folder or contact us via conference@archaeologists.net

Description

Comments on social media, such as during the Heritage Chat on Twitter, have highlighted how much people are missing the everyday networking opportunities which have been halted due to lockdown procedures. We know nothing can really beat the cross-organisational networking that happens in the break room, but we are trying to fill that gap.

Join us for a lunchtime chat, from 12:30 until 13:15. Expand your social network from the comfort of your own home or wherever you are currently located, and perhaps chat with some people on Zoom other than your daily contacts! We will set up a series of break-out rooms for people to join and go from there.

CIfA staff will also be joining in on the conversations, so feel free to say hi! Please bear in mind: this is something new we are trying out. If you can think of ways to improve the process, let us know and we will see what we can do! This will be completely free with up to 100 spaces available.

Topics:

  • Early careers archaeologists and career development
In celebration of Young Workers Month, join us to find out more about career paths, opportunities and guidance on how you can develop your own career in archaeology. We’ll be hearing from other early career archaeologists about their own careers as well as how getting involved and volunteering can help you to develop your skillset. Bring your questions and your own experience to this discussion and find out more about how to forge your career path in archaeology!

  • At the heart of archaeology: public benefit case studies and resources
Archaeological work should deliver real, engaging and innovative public benefit and with the recent launch of our new practice paper, this discussion will further explore how we can put public benefit at the heart of our work as archaeologists. We'll be discussing some of the resources available, such as the practice paper and CIRIA guide, as well as case studies, examples and practical advice.
