Morning tea chat - COP26 and climate action

Registration is closed for this event
Come to our regular gathering of CIfA members, combining the networking of live events with archaeological topics.

Description

Comments on social media, such as during the Heritage Chat on Twitter, have highlighted how much people are missing the everyday networking opportunities which have been halted due to lockdown procedures. We know nothing can really beat the cross-organisational networking that happens in the break room, but we are trying to fill that gap.

Join us for a morning tea chat, from 10:30 until 11:15. Expand your social network from the comfort of your own home or wherever you are currently located, and perhaps chat with some people on Zoom other than your daily contacts! We will set up a series of break-out rooms for people to join and go from there.

With the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP26) being hosted in Glasgow from 31 October, our next morning chat will focus on the climate crisis as well as the opportunities and actions we have available to us as archaeologists to respond to climate change and reach net zero. We’ll be hosting two separate discussions as part of our tea break where you’ll be able to hear from others in the heritage environment sector as well as share your own thoughts, ideas and experience.

The questions we’ll be asking include:

  • How can archaeology inform climate change responses?

  • How can individuals, organisations and processes adapt to be more sustainable and release less carbon?

Additional info

The event start/end times indicated below are for Greenwich Mean Time (GMT/UTC + 0). This meeting will take place on Zoom; the link for the meeting will be sent out the hour before the meeting starts.
