Description

We will outline what is involved in dendrochronological work in historic buildings, and summarise the progress made in Scottish buildings dendrochronology, using case studies to illustrate the precision dating, timber provenance and other valuable information which can be obtained.  We will also cover some commonly asked questions including what type of timbers are suitable. We will compare the Scottish situation with other countries and make the case for greater uptake of dendrochronology in development projects and repair schemes in Scotland's built heritage. There will be time for questions and discussion at the end of the workshop.
