It provides a great foundation for individuals\, teams and organisations to begin to take steps towards reducing their carbon emissions and beco me more environmentally sustainable.\n \n  \n \n CIfA is delighted to announce that we will be supp orting Historic England in delivering Heritage car bon literacy training for the sector. This is aime d at small to medium sized enterprises (SMEs).\n \ n The course has been created by Historic England and is accredited by the Carbon Literacy Trust. Ca rbon Literacy is a keyway for organisations to gai n an awareness of the causes and impacts of climat e change and an understanding of carbon emissions. It provides a great foundation for individuals\, teams and organisations to begin to take steps tow ards reducing their carbon emissions and become mo re environmentally sustainable.\n \n  \n \n What are the benefits from doing it?\n \n As an individ ual\, Carbon Literacy is an opportunity to gain a nationally recognised accreditation. You will be  able to understand more on your carbon footprint and pledge to make a difference.\n \n As a team\, Carbon Literacy allows you to collaborate and ge nerate ideas on topics such as what does a low car bon heritage organisation look like and the co-be nefits that historic environments and climate act ions have. \n \n As an organisation\, your staff  will understand the impacts of climate change and actions\, and will support behaviour change acro ss the organisation\, which will contribute to su stainability and Net Zero goals.\n \n As a sector\ , this training will help us collectively make a difference through taking responsibility and\n com mitting to lowering our emissions. \n \n  \n \n The Course\n \n The Carbon Literacy Course for Her itage is an entry level\, action focused\, carbon reduction training\, developed especially for the Heritage sector. The course looks at the science b ehind the climate emergency\, the impacts on Herit age\, the policy positions national and internatio nally\, and co benefits for Heritage in making cha nges and well as examples of Low Carbon Heritage.\ n \n The interactive online course takes place ove r two half days\, via Zoom\, with a small bit of h omework to do before the first session. At the end of the course\, you be asked to make two carbon r eduction pledges\, and in return will be certified as Carbon Literate.\n \n Please watch this short introduction video for further information here.\n \n  \n \n Dates & Timings\n \n Wednesday 11 Sept ember and Thursday 12 September \n \n 9:30 - 13 :00\n \n  \n \n Additional information\n \n To su pport heritage organisations prepare themselves to reduce their carbon emissions and move towards be coming Net Zero\, Historic England has covered the cost of delivering this training so delegates wil l only be charged £10 to cover the cost of the en d of course certificate.\n \n Places are limited t o 12 delegates so please ensure that you register early.
