The Role 

The Geophysics delivery manager is responsible for staff activities within the Geophysics department, and the delivery of geophysical survey projects across the country and beyond. The role looks to deliver Headland’s geophysical projects safely, to a high standard of quality, with a good degree of consistency, innovatively and collaboratively with other parts of the business and stakeholders. The post-holder should have a clear understanding of company functionality – and the way in which their role functions in relation to other roles in the organisation. Key Responsibilities

  • Communicating, monitoring and meeting KPI’s and company focal points/initiatives
  • Continued management of a select portfolio of projects subject to agreed capacity
  • Planning geophysical resource and equipment requirements
  • Resolving scheduling conflicts in relation to geophysical work
  • Assisting the development of geophysical recording and operating systems
  • Ensuring systems are correctly implemented
  • Agree priorities for L&D across the whole Geophysics department
  • Supporting project managers, providing advice to keep projects on track
  • Monitoring and reviewing the financial performance of geophysical projects
  • Developing client relationships
  • Capturing and measuring efficiencies
  • Sign off on tenders, following the sales processes
  • Facilitating appropriate meetings within the geophysics team
  • Representing the company at external events
  • Assist in delivering strategic objectives
  • Supporting and promoting the company’s vison and objectives

 

Essential Key Skills

  • A relevant degree, or proven experience
  • Driving licence and willingness to travel
  • CSCS Card (or equivalent)
  • Experience in the commercial management of archaeological geophysical projects
  • Detailed experience and understanding of UK commercial archaeology and planning legislation.
  • Experience in the delivery of geophysical projects.
  • Ability to work in collaboration with other construction professionals to deliver combined civils/archaeological projects
  • Proficient in use and understanding of MS Office suite. Emerging skills in designing spreadsheets
  • Comprehensive knowledge of safe working practices for typical archaeological geophysics

    projects

  • Good time and pressure management skills, ability to use your own initiative within the company structure
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

  • A publication track-record
  • CIfA Membership
  • Experience in change management
  • SMSTS qualification
