Introduction to Open Source GIS

Date:
Wednesday 21 March 2012

Instructor: Cathy MacIver, ARCH
Highland Archive Centre, Inverness 10am - 4:30pm

The course will provide basic instruction on using QGIS, an Open Source GIS programme. Students will learn how to add GPS data, background maps and images and to create point, polyline and polygon GIS files.

This is a hands-on course and it is highly recommended that students bring a laptop computer uploaded with QGIS software (prior to the course date, the tutor will provide instructions on where to access the software and how to load on to a computer). It is also requested that those planning to attend provide details on type of GPS they use in the field. This will help the instructor to teach students how to upload data directly from their unit.
