Icon is a UK charity and membership organisation which brings together those with a passion for the care of cultural heritage. We champion the value and practice of cultural heritage conservation. Our mission is to support:
• Advocacy – through influencing our partners
• Excellence – through building knowledge, high standards and valuing the profession
• Engagement – through encouraging public awareness and participation

You will help to deliver transformational change in Icon’s approach to policy work and related advocacy activities. An early impact will be that Icon has better evidence on which to base policy activities and a corresponding increase in its capacity to engage with ‘live’ policy issues. The longer-term impact will be for Icon to achieve a step-change in awareness of the importance of conservation of cultural heritage and of Icon’s leadership role in this field.

You will enhance our ability to conduct outward facing advocacy so that we can more effectively promote the value of conservation and of the conservation profession to all sector policy makers. This will drive positive change in the heritage sector and will result in better appreciation and understanding of the conservation of our heritage.

You will support and strengthen Icon’s capacity to influence the policies of UK governments, NGOs and other voluntary and professional bodies throughout the UK. You will respond to consultations and take the initiative in policy debates. You will focus on building relationships on behalf of Icon.

You will be a key member of Icon’s staff team. You will work closely with the Chief Executive, Trustees and Chairs of Icon’s special interest groups.
