Discovery and excavation in Scotland (DES)

The closing date for submissions to this year’s Discovery and Excavation in Scotland is the 15th November 2017.

All entries are valued and your support of DES is appreciated. A big thank you to everyone who has already submitted their entries for this year. Should you have any questions / problems please feel free to contact me anytime and I will do my best to be of help. (paula.milburn [at] hes.scot)

Information on how to send in your entries is shown below:

If possible contributions should be sent as Word attachments via email. Accompanying images may also be sent via email but it would be appreciated if high resolution copies of any images could also be sent on disk. Contributors may also submit entries on disk or in hardcopy format if they do not have access to email. If you do not receive an acknowledgement by the end of November please contact me to confirm that your entries have been safely received.

We will include illustrations to accompany your entry wherever possible, provided they are of appropriate quality. We particularly welcome images of work in progress, finds and plans of large-scale excavations and surveys. The images help to bring the text alive, so if you have images please send them with your entries, they are always appreciated. Please supply colour and black and white greyscale images as jpg or tif files at a minimum resolution of 300dpi. Black and white bitmap images should ideally be saved at 1200dpi, and no lower than 800dpi for optimum printing.
