Scottish Government SEA secondment opportunity

The Scottish Government’s Environmental Assessment Team has a secondment opportunity. The purpose of the secondment will be to assist with strategic environmental assessment of Scottish Government plans, programmes and strategies. This may include work on the following:

  • concluding revision of the SEA Toolkit;

  • technical help on SEA of offshore renewables sectoral marine plans; and

  • assistance on the National Planning Framework 3 / Scottish Planning Policy SEA.

There may also be opportunities to work in the policy areas of environmental impact assessment and Habitat Regulations Appraisal, for example supporting the impact assessment of new EIA Directive proposals.

This secondment offers an excellent opportunity to develop knowledge and experience of environmental assessment practice and policy in the Scottish Government context.

Details of the post are as follows:

  • The post is based in Edinburgh at Victoria Quay.

  • As this is a secondment, there is unlikely to be opportunity to work remotely and the secondee will be expected to work in Victoria Quay.

  • The secondment will commence as soon as possible, and will be complete by 31 March 2013.

  • The secondee will be expected to work a 37 hour week over 5 days (Monday to Friday). However, depending on the project, there may be some flexibility so please let us know if this arrangement is not suitable.

  • Salary details will be negotiated with the employer once the secondment is offered.

  • We cannot cover any accommodation costs but we may be able to reimburse any reasonable travel costs. This can be discussed with successful candidates.
