Consultation with members on possible changes to governance

Since November 2010 IfA Council has been giving consideration to redefining the division of roles between the Council and Executive committees. The aim of this is to allow for broader representation of the membership to sit on Council, for greater opportunity for member engagement with IfAs response to matters of importance to the profession, and to allow for better management of the business by transferring the day to day responsibilities of these matters to the Executive. The document that outlines this in full can be downloaded here

We need members’ views on this. Please download and read the consultation document and pass your comments to Council. Council would welcome comments from the membership on

  • whether to pursue a change in governance structure as described here
  • suggestions on this division of roles between a Representative Assembly and a Board of Directors
  • views on the names of the two bodies
  • views on the suggested composition of the Representative Assembly and Board of Directors
  • views on whether and when an application for Chartered Status should be embarked upon

Responses should be emailed to alex.llewellyn@archaeologists.net by no later than 1 June 2011. Response received will inform a further consultation which will be circulated following the Council meeting in July 2011.
