English Heritage has produced three draft thematic research strategies for key aspects of the historic environment and is inviting comments from a range of audiences over the summer period (to 30 September). The draft strategies set out current thinking on the priorities for English Heritage relating to the urban historic environment, the historic industrial environment and prehistoric archaeology. They are intended to direct the allocation of resources towards research which contributes significantly to English Heritage’s mission to protect the nation’s historic environment. The strategies will be revised in the light of comments received during the consultation period and will be aligned with the developing National Heritage Protection Plan, which will set out the corporate strategy for the period 2010-2015. Comments on the strategy papers are welcomed, and the papers can be viewed by following this link:
From this introductory page, ‘urban’ or ‘prehistoric’ can be selected from the menu on the left-hand side of the screen: these open a page devoted to each topic, and the draft thematic research strategy can be accessed by opening the pdf on the right-hand side of the screen. The draft industrial strategy can be downloaded directly from the introductory page. Comments on the draft strategies should be sent to the following:
