This intensive practical training course provides an introduction to analytical site and landscape investigation. A field survey exercise will be conducted on an earthwork site near Oxford, where participants will undertake a variety of field techniques, including EDM/Total Station and GPS survey, plane-tabling and graphical survey, in working towards an understanding of the site in its landscape context.

The course is taught by archaeological field investigators from English Heritage, and it is aimed towards professional archaeologists and those actively involved with field survey. Please note that this course starts on a Bank Holiday Monday and involves some evening sessions.

Course Directors: Mark Bowden and Trevor Pearson, English Heritage
