Organisers: Phil Mills, Laura Evis and Chiz Harward
This session will encourage partnerships, conversations and awareness between different groups of archaeological specialists. Archaeologists have continually developed new ways to excavate and record aspects of the archaeological record, but what has driven the changes introduced? Has commercialisation led to an increased emphasis on elaborate systematic recording systems at the expense of critical methods? What drives new methods and strategies adopted? This session will critically address the methods and recording systems used in modern field archaeology and the impact they have across the whole project, looking at alternative methodologies and discussing the integration of all aspects of the archaeological project.
