Heritage crime - partnerships in practice
Organiser: Pete Wilson, English Heritage
The Heritage Crime Initiative (HCI) was developed by English Heritage to address the impact of crime on the historic environment. Its success was built on partnership – from local Community Safety Partnerships, through to establishing working practices with the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) – and resulted in the establishment of Alliance to Reduce Crime against Heritage (ARCH). The increasing number of heritage-related o¬ffences being taken through the courts system provides a measurable result of this success. The session explores the basic tenets of partnership working, providing case studies which demonstrate good practice and seeks to engender discussion of options and future strategies.
