Construction, design and management regulations

Organiser: Andrew Townsend

Since 2009 a voluntary working group comprised of professionals from the heritage, education and construction sectors has been exploring health & safety issues surrounding archaeological/historic-environment projects. A key issue has been the application of the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations (2007) to archaeological/historic environment work, which includes the design and fieldwork elements of projects. The aim of the working group is to produce endorsed guidance for use by the historic environment sector for site-based work. This workshop explores the key findings of the work undertaken by the group to date and sets out a framework for producing written guidance for use by the archaeological/historic environment sector.
